My iown father has grown up a lot over the last 20 years, but when I
was sixteen he beat the living shit out of me for cutting my hair.

He didn't drink, smoke, or use drugs.

Hadn't smoked all his whole life.  Drank when he was too young to
purchase legally, and smoked pot a few times when he was younger.  By
the time he kicked my ass, backed up against the counter top with the
corner pressed into the small of my back, he had not drank, or done
drugs for years.

I walked away with a bruised cheek.

Now, what rules say you HAVE to be on drugs to be abusive or
neglectful?
